The Spring framework provides comprehensive support for developing Java applications. It was released for general availability in April 2014.Ī JAR (Java ARchive) is a file format and deployment unit used to package a set of Java class files and associated metadata and resources. It is an excellent choice for creating microservices. The main focus of Spring Boot is on facilitating a fast-path creation of stand-alone web applications packaged as executable JAR files with minimum configuration. It was inspired by the DropWizard Java framework ( ) . It was developed in response to Spring Platform Request SPR-9888 “Improved support for ‘containerless’ web application architectures”. Spring Boot ( ) is a project within the Spring IO Platform ( ). This tutorial is adapted from Web Age course Mastering Microservices with Spring Boot and Spring Cloud.
